Water Filter Frenzy (W2F 2024)

INTRODUCTION

A water filter removes impurities by lowering contamination of water using a fine physical barrier, a chemical process, or a biological process. Water filtration provide a convenient and cost-effective way to make sure we have a clean and refreshing water. Some form of water filter enhances the quality of water. Therefore, filtering the water is important for both aesthetic and health-related reasons.
W2F 2024 is a competition in conjunction of FKAAB Innovation Week (InNoW) 2024. This competition provides a platform for the higher institution students and researchers to share their research works and findings on water filtration products.

OBJECTIVE

1. To provide a platform for the students and researchers to display their innovation in sustainable and environmental water filter.

2. To inculcate interest in innovating and researching in sustainable and environmental fields.

 

ELIGIBILITY

1. W2F 2024 is open to ALL students, researchers and staffs from public and private higher learning institutions. An individual or team of participant may register up to a maximum of FIVE (5) members and one (1) supervisor.

2. There is no limitation for the number of teams coming from the same institutions. Similar material formulation is prohibited for the teams coming from the same institution.

INNOVATION PRODUCT

The product must be water filter from natural or environmental friendly material to treat high turbidity and polluted water.

RULES AND GUIDELINES

1. Participants are required to produce the water filter prototype at their respective places.

2. The prototype material must be portable, robust, durable and lightweight to be carried to competition venue.

3. Ensure that the media is kept separate from the prototype filter when bringing it to the competition. Time will be provided to assemble the prototype and media during the competition event.

4. The diameter (for cylinder) and length (for cube) of the filter must not morethan 152.40mm (6inch) with the height of 0.5m or less.

5. Sustainable and environmental friendly materials (i.e. natural, recycle and waste materials) are encouraged to be used in the water filter media. Not more than FIVE (5) medias are allowed.

6. The performance and removal efficiency of the water filter media will be tested by the competition committees.

7. Each team is allowed to submit only ONE Innovation.

8. This competition is in physical mode only. Online participation is not allowed.

9. Each entry will receive one medal and an e-certificate. Participants who wish to purchase additional medals can do so for RM50.00 / USD 20.00 per medal.

10. Each entry must fill out the registration form and attach the payment slip via the provided link from the website.

11. Registration confirmation and participation ID number will be provided via email within two (2) weeks after the registration is made.
