PROGRAMME
Young Inventor Challenge (YIC) : Sustainable and Recycled Materials 2026
AIM
This program aims to nurture creative and innovative students by creating innovative products using recyclable materials.
PARTICIPATION TARGET
Primary school students
Secondary school students.
Vocational College students
PARTICIPATION FEE
-
Free for 30 early entries only (applies to Malaysia’s schools and vocational colleges only (private and non-private)
-
Remaining school and vocational college entry fees will be RM 50.00/entry
-
Schools and vocational colleges other than Malaysia will be USD 15.00/entry
AWARD CATEGORIES
GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE – Online and Physical participation
BEST OF THE BEST- Physical participation
The award winner will receive a medal.
Medal can be purchased at an additional cost of RM50.00 / USD 15.00 per medal.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

The innovation must be associated with the principles of 3R—Recycle, Reuse, and Reduce.

The innovation should be aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 11 (waste management) and Sustainable Development Goal 12 (recycling) in idea/ product design.

The idea/product emphasizes its sustainability impact across the environmental, social, and economic.

The innovative product must perform according to its intended design specifications.

Each school can submit more than one entry.

For each participant
i. Can be one of the following
a) an individual with a supervising teacher (1 teacher) or
b) in a group (maximum of 5 participants) with a supervising
teacher (maximum of 2 teachers).
ii. Each entry must fill in the participation form through the link on the InNow website.
iii. Registration confirmation and participation ID number will be provided via email within two (2) weeks after the registration is made.
iv. Provide a poster to explain the following:
- The idea/product and its function
- The types of recyclable material (at least 2 recyclable materials)
- The implementation of 3R on the idea/product
- The contribution to sustainability impacts, particularly on the environmental, social, and economic
v. Include the visual aid (design sketches/chart/image) and SDGs icon (at least SDG 11 and SDG 12) in the poster
vi. Online Participation
a) Prepare a poster in PDF format and only one (1) page
b) Provide the presentation video with the following criteria:
- Should not exceed 5 minutes in duration
- Name the video to the school's Facebook/Youtube.
Then, the link to the video should be sent to the link provided on the InNow 2026 website
c) Submit the poster, presentation video, and the Facebook/YouTube link via the InNow 2025 Website before 15 September 2026
vii. Physical participation:
a) Prepare a poster in size A1 and only one (1) page.
b) Provide the product prototype (which will be used to determine the “Best of the Best” award).
c) Must be attended by inventor/s with the supervising teacher
